Important concepts
Data Interpretation starts with careful reading of the table, chart or graph: check its title, units, categories, time period and any footnotes. Then choose the operation the question actually needs—comparison, ratio, percentage change, average or a measure of dispersion. A percentage is meaningful only with its base stated; a trend should be read across the correct time points. For grouped data and probability questions, keep the definition and assumptions visible. Many errors come from misreading a scale or denominator rather than from difficult arithmetic.
